Hello Thank you very much for your reply. After looking to the forum, I understood that I needed to go through TTHome. Therefore, I have downloaded the same. Also, I have purchased the WEST EUROPE map. Now the issue is that my SD cards memory is not enough for WEST EUROPE. I have now paid for a map which I cannot use!! Is it possible to use a regular SDHC card and will this work in my car???

Or can TomTom replace my SD card with one which will support the map. I have looked in the menu to make space and have deleted Benelux. But the issue is that the WE map is 1.8 G and the SD cards total memory is less. I bought my car in dec 2011.

I had the same problem. I bought a 4 GB sd card and search this forum for answers. I had TomTom home, I had a subscription for West Europe and my Carminat Id was transferred to my subscription. What I did was the following: I put the new sd card in my Carminat and started the Carminat. Then wait until it says: no maps found (or something like that). Then switched the Carminat off and took the SD card from the Carminat. I then inserted it in my computer and it started TomTom home.

Apparently the SD card was initialised by the Carminat as a TomTom sd card. TomTOmhome then showed a long list of updates that were needed including the Western European maps. I folowed the instructions given by TomTom Home from there. Hi Allei, SDHC may work, but need not. I have tested several SDHC-Cards up to 64GB in my Carminat Live and they al worked. But SDHC doesn't officialy supported by TomTom. I never put the SDHC-Cards first in the Carminat for initialization.

I always manually copy the content of the original SD-Card to the SDHC-Card, I want to test, via Explorer. Then I put it in the Carminat and wait until the Navigation screen and the clock appears. Sometimes you have to wait. The Carminat maybe reboots several times. If it reboots more than five or six times, there went something wrong. Mostly it helps to put the SDHC back in PC and delete the content of the 'loopdir'-directory at the root of the SDHC-Card. But beware, you lost all favorites, last targets and personally settings.

Try it again in the Carminat. After this i puit it in the PC again and make all the Updates via TTHome. Regards Troubadix12. Just latching on to this thread, as I have similar problems.Hope nobody minds. I just bought a Renault Scenic Dynamique TOMTOM Automatic Registartion date 2010. The Sd card was only for UK & Ireland. So I ordered the European Maps and bought an 8GB SD Card (Only one I could get quickly) I put the new card into my TomTom and then put the card into my PC and downlaoded the European Maps (which to my knowledge have UK & Ireland included) I did back upo the old card first through TOMTOM Home.

From what I understand, I should have first restored my old card backup onto my new SD card and then put the new card into the TomTom Sat Nav. And then downloaded th eEurope Maps to my new Sd Card. I have tried the new card and it works fine for UK. So do I really need to have put the restored data on the card first and why? If so, can I just get my new SD card and restore the old data from TOMTOM Home, which will wipe anything on the new SD card. Then take it to the car and sync it on the Sat nav, Then put the card into the PC and download the Europe Maps again.?

I don't know if TOMTOM allow you 23 download the Europe Maps again. Thanks for any help on this. Hi arhuritus, Generally, the quickest way to start using a new SD card is to copy the old one onto it and then update. There's no other reason to this recommendation. Also, it's not that much quicker If I understood you correctly, your new SD card works fine. In that case there's no reason to return the backup on it.

If you had many favourites on your old card, I would recommend to transfer them into POIs, which you easily transfer to you new SD card. Building With Papercrete Pdf Reader. The instructions can be found at target='_blank Cheers, Mikko.
